The student chef's competition for the 21st century

Dynamic, Versatile, Innovative, Going places! This and more describe Asian cuisine today. Do you have the zest for it?

Asia is the continent to watch. As the world evolves, countries such as China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the Philippines are striding forth, spreading their wealth and culture around the globe.

And their cuisine -- Asian cuisine -- is sophisticated and very often spectacular. In Britain today, we can’t get enough of it.

There are over 10,000 restaurants offering Asian cuisine in the UK, and the Asian food sector is worth some £3 billion. For any ambitious, budding chef, there is probably no better sector in which to invest your time, attention and skills for a professional career that will take you places. And for those out to be the best, recognition can be yours if you enter Zest Quest Asia. This is a competition designed for student chefs of the 21st century.

To-date, over 100 student chefs with permanent residency in the UK have entered Zest Quest Asia. Founded by Cyrus Todiwala OBE DL, one of the world’s most admired Indian chefs, with the support of the Master Chefs of Great Britain, the professional association for chefs working within the hospitality industry, Zest Quest Asia has seen young people from the country’s most prestigious catering colleges and universities compete for the distinction of having displayed the best knowledge and skills in Asian cuisine. Winners so far have enjoyed culinary tours to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Japan. More exotic destinations await future competition winners.

"The experience was a great gift to us. Thank you for giving us such a great opportunity."

- Cela Ghale, Doncaster College, Finalist, Zest Quest Asia 2015
